மொழியும் மென்பொருள்கருவிகளும்

சாப்ட்வேர் வளர்ந்து விட்டது என்று பலரும் பேசிப் பேசி அலுத்து விட்டது. இந்த வளர்ச்சி தமிழுக்கு என்ன தந்தது? என்ற சந்தேகம் எழுகிறது. கணினியில் இங்கிலீஷ் (English தமிழிலும் இங்கிலீஷ் தான்) பயன்படுத்தப் படுவதைப் போல தமிழைப் பயன்படுத்த முடியவில்லையே. கணினியில் தமிழ் எழுத்துப் பிழை மற்றும் இலக்கணப் பிழைகளை (spell check, grammar check) சுட்டிக் காட்டவோ திருத்தம் செய்யவோ இன்னும் செயல் பாட்டளவில் வழி ஏற்படுத்தவில்லை. இங்கிலீஷ் தவிர இன்னும் பல மொழிகளுக்கு இந்த வசதிகள் உள்ளன. கூகிளும், மைக்ரோசாப்ட்டும் வணிகத்துக்காக மட்டுமே  தமிழ் மொழியில் ஆர்வம் கொண்டார்கள். இந்த இரு வசதிகள் மட்டும் இருந்திருந்தால் எழுத்துப்பிழைகளே இல்லாத விளம்பரங்கள், அறிவிப்புகள், சமூக வலைக் கருத்துக்களை நாம் அனுபவித்துக் கொண்டிருப்போம். மேலும், தமிழ் வார்த்தைகளை ஒலியாக கேட்கவும், தமிழில் பேசினால் வார்த்தையாக தட்டச்சு (text to speech, voice input) செய்யவும் முடிய வில்லை. இங்கிலீஷில் இவை எல்லாம் சாத்தியம்.

இங்கிலீஷ் மொழியில் தவறின்றி தட்டச்சு செய்து அச்சிட முடிந்த தமிழனால் தமிழில் பிழையின்றி ஆவணங்களை தயாரிக்க முடியவில்லை. இந்த நடைமுறை சிக்கல்களால் தமிழில் ஆவணங்கள் தயாரிப்பது தவிர்க்கப் படுகிறது. தற்போது கணினி அல்லாத செல்பேசி உள்ளிட்ட பல கருவிகளுடன் மொழியைக் கையாள்கிறோம். மாநிலம் முழுவதும் இலவச மடிக்கணினி அளிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளதையும் கவனத்தில் கொள்ளவேண்டும். எளிமையின் காரணமாக தமிழ் வார்த்தைகளை இங்கிலீஷில் தட்டி விடுகின்றனர்.  தனியார் நிறுவனங்களில் இங்கிலீஷ் பிரதானமான மொழியாக உள்ளது. அரசு அலுவலகங்களில் நீதிமன்றங்களில் கூட தமிழை விட இங்கிலீஷ்தான் ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்துகிறது. தமிழை தொழில்நுட்பக் கருவிகளில் பயன்படுத்தும் அளவிற்கு எளிமையாக்கத் தவறிவிட்டோமோ எனத் தோன்றுகிறது. ஏனைய இந்திய மொழிகளுக்கும் இதே நிலைமை தான் என்ற போதிலும், இந்திய அளவிலும் உலக அளவிலும் சிறந்த மென்பொருள் வல்லுநர்களான தமிழர்களை தமிழ்த் துறைகளும், பல்கலைக்கழகங்களும் பயன்படுத்தத் தவறிவிட்டது. பல இயந்திர கட்டளை மொழிகளைக் கொண்டு தமிழ் மொழியில் மேலும் சாதிக்க நமது மென்பொருள் வல்லுனர்கள் ஆர்வம் காட்ட வேண்டும். அவர்களுக்கு அரசாங்கம் பொருளுதவியுடன் ஊக்கம் தர வேண்டும்.

To avoid a particular news some other unimportant news is purposefully pressurized into the media by all televisions and most of the press media. For example at the time of Delhi medical student rape happened it forced a very difficult situation for the ruling party. They wanted to suppress the media but not possible. They played a different trick i.e. forced Sachin to retire. Another example is Jayalalitha case in Bangalore court is not showed in any news channels. In news papers it is kept in some odd corner. On the day of election results recently nothing happened in the the nation other than the counting of results. But other days Dog race in London occupies a major time of a news slot. Train delay of five minutes also a news on many days. Modi is the news of this month. Tamil news channels just focus on Delhi and Gujarat for last week. News media orphaned all other news of Tamilnadu. During this time there was an accident happened in Kudankulam and another accident in Neyveli mines. At least a news dominates all other news many times. There has to be a way for the viewer to know what happened regarding an issue or a place or to a political person. Televisions can plan a programs on "news on demand" as like the song on demand, comedy on demand, doctor/astrologer advice on demand. It should be a live phone program. So all citizens who don't have internet to Google the news can know the current situation of any issue by just calling the news television. I believe this kind of programs will attract lot of rural viewers. And other thing restricts cooking of the news by the media where immediate response has to be given to the the viewer. With the use of technology news on demand is very simple but politics behind news televisions may think deep to broadcast.

Trees are the real shelters of mankind.
I realize it recently in Chennai bus stop where bus shelters were not there. A bus stop in Chennai can be identified by group of different aged standing people occupies half of the road. If you observe keenly you could also find the cut pieces of iron pillars projecting from the platform. Then it is seven hundred percent sure of a bus stop. Chennai public transport is just about buses and metro projects and not care about the passengers, bus shelters and platforms. People desire of a traffic jam free smooth transport. City administration actions actually discourage the use of public transport. One such action is lack of shelters at bus stops. Public transport victim (passenger) applies for a vehicle loan to take revenge on public transport. Victims increases day by day and fills the roads with their vehicles. Tit for tat. Even the parked vehicles do revenge by occupying road side spaces. Sad thing is that number of personal vehicles in the city increased manifolds in the same length and width of the roads. Public transport system has a lot of scope for improvement.
